Fun Facts

• Dogs can smell anywhere from 1,000-10,000 that of a human.
• Majority of scents we tend to love that are fruity or sweet, a dog smells as their equivalent to garbage.
• For dogs, eyes are just a bonus feature. They actually “see” with their nose! If a dog were to lose their eyesight, not much would actually change. Dogs have what we call a “second internal nose.” And it’s known as the vomeronasal organ. Experts say that at least 40% of a dog’s brain is dedicated to this organ.
• Dogs have such a strong sense of smell, that this is one of the main reasons they can detect if a woman is pregnant, even before she knows herself!
• Dogs have all basic emotions- fear, disgust, joy, anger, and most importantly… love. However, they do not experience more complex emotions, such as guilt, pride, and shame.
